Recognising World Health Day 2021

Today, 7 April, is World Health Day as designated by the World Health Organisation. This year’s theme of ‘building a fairer, healthier world’ comes when the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the inequity in access to, and standards of, health care across the world.

As each and every one of us has learnt to live with the pandemic over the past 12 months or so, we have all focused more than ever on our own health and wellbeing, and that of those around us in our communities.

For everyone at BlueScope, the theme of this year’s World Health Day is a great opportunity to remember the importance of our health and wellbeing including our strategic focus across BlueScope on COVID-19 risks, occupational hygiene, fit for work and our physical and mental health.

Many BlueScope people have helped those in their communities who may not have the same access to good health care.

North Star BlueScope Steel has set the example by donating to the V Project, a grassroots community organisation in Northwest Ohio that is promoting vaccination to help reach 70 per cent of the population. North Star is keen to offer its support and promote vaccination in the region where most of its workforce lives.
